An idea was born in the Palestro district of Padova((Italy) to create a Self-Managed Popular Outpatient Clinic, where anyone can receive care, regardless of documents, economic possibilities or social condition. We are a group of doctors, psychologists, health operators and citizens who want to respond to problems related to health and care. Thanks to ASD Quadrato Meticcio, which deals with integration and has a strong presence in the Palestro neighborhood, we have a space where the project is coming to life.
In Veneto and in Italy, the privatization of the health care system leaves many people without access to care, especially those living in economic hardship or undocumented. Sometimes, even having a health card is not enough to receive care. Our clinic is not meant to replace the public system, but to offer an alternative that is accessible and resistant to discrimination.
We believe that spaces like this are crucial in neighborhoods to provide medical expertise, regardless of economic or social distinctions.
