Τhe Palestinian people are living under a televised genocide: at least 65,000 dead in Gaza, 1.5 million people displaced, hospitals reduced to rubble, nearly 250 journalists killed, children bombed, children starved to death with famine used as a weapon of war, children with headshot wounds. For 77 years the colonial Israeli state forces Palestinians under a regime of displacements and appartheid. For 18 years Gazans are living under a blockade which turned the region into what was desctribed as the largest open-air prison in the planet. For the last two years, the state of Israel is waging a genocide.
The governments we live under, are complicit in the genocide, because they arm, finance and maintain political, diplomatic and commercial relations with the genocidal Zionist regime. Itself an heir of Western colonialism, Israel now stands as a terrible model for Fortress Europe, a model of racist dispossession, of war against populations, a model of societal millitarization, an exporter of weapons, tools of policing and surveilance, and tactics of social repression.
As healthcare structures we recognize that no talk about health can have any meaning when the value of the life of an entire society is denied, when a war machine attempts to exterminate an entire people. It is our responsibility to stand fully behind the Palestinians’ struggle for life, dignity and freedom. We stand fully in solidarity with all healthcare workers in Palestine and admire their courage and perseverance.
As self-organized health structures we salute the Global Sumud Flotilla as a beautiful and inspiring initiative of internationalist solidarity and self organization. The Flotilla sails toward Gaza to break the blockade, denounce Israel’s crimes and open a maritime humanitarian corridor. Hundreds of people from more than 40 countries are taking part, backed by international law and the dignity of peoples.
For us it is clear: societies do what states do not want to. If governments do not act, we will. Passivity is not an option.
We demand:
Immediate and effective protection for the Global Sumud Flotilla, guaranteeing its arrival in Gaza and respect for international law.
A total arms embargo on Israel: an immediate ban, with retroactive effect, on exports, imports, transits and all forms of military collaboration.
The severing of diplomatic, commercial, cultural and sporting relations with the Israeli regime while the occupation and genocide persist.
An end to the blockade of Gaza and the opening of a stable and secure international humanitarian corridor.
The immediate end of any and all acts of persecution against Palestinian solidarity and the immediate release of all prisoners.
Stop the genocide!
